RUTLEDGE TENNESSEE RESIDENT KILLED IN COLLISION ON INTERSTATE 75 IN ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, KENTUCKY

MOUNT VERNON, KY - The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is reporting that KSP Post 11, London is investigating a two-vehicle fatal collision that occurred at approximately 10:44 A.M. Tuesday, morning in Rockcastle County on Interstate I-75 at the 59-mile marker northbound.

The preliminary investigation indicates a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse, operated by John E. Johnson, 81 years old of Rutledge, TN, was traveling northbound on Interstate I-75 when he lost control of his vehicle and veered into the path of a 2000 Freightliner Semi. The Semi was operated by William D. Cronin 43 years old of Richmond, KY.  

As a result of the collision, Mr. Johnson’s passenger, Shirlee R. Johnson, 78 years old of Rutledge, TN. suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased by the Rockcastle County Coroner at the scene.

Mr. Johnson was transported by Rockcastle EMS to Rockcastle Regional Hospital and treated for non-life-threating injuries.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Post 11 Trooper Shane Bowling.  He was assisted at the scene by Post 11 Personnel, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Rockcastle Sheriff’s Office, Mount Vernon Police Department, Rockcastle EMS, Mount Vernon Fire Department, and the Rockcastle County Coroner.
