ARRESTS: Wanted Female Parole Violator from Burnside and a London, Kentucky Man Located with Drugs During Traffic Stop in Pulaski County

SOMERSET, KY - Sheriff Bobby Jones reports the arrest of two individuals following a late night traffic stop on December 4th, 2023.

On Monday, December 4th, 2023 at approximately 11:39 PM, Deputy Logan Crabtree conducted a traffic stop on a 2007 Pontiac G7 to verify the vehicle had insurance based on information obtained from its license plate.

Upon speaking with the driver of the vehicle, Deputy Crabtree was told she did not have a driver’s license in her possession, but provided a social security number. The social security number given to Deputy Crabtree belonged to a male subject.

The female driver attempted to claim she was the male subject, but when giving the spelling of the name, misspelled her own supposed first name.

SGT Preston Pitman arrived on scene shortly after the initiation of the traffic stop, and after learning of the false identifying information, informed the driver of the criminal act.

The female driver was later identified as Iris Kay Thompson, 52 years of age, Burnside, KY.

Thompson was found to have a Parole Violation warrant for her arrest from a 2018 conviction for:

  • Possess or View Matter Portraying Sexual Performance by a Minor

A passenger in the vehicle, Sean K. Maggard, 61 years of age, London, KY, was found to be the owner of the car and provided his license and vehicle information.

Maggard gave deputies consent to search the vehicle, where a bottle of alcohol was located in the passenger side floorboard. Through further search of the vehicle, deputies located what appeared to be:

  • Marijuana
  • Methamphetamine
  • A prescription controlled substance identified as Gabapentin
  • Several items of drug paraphernalia

Neither Thompson nor Maggard claimed ownership of the controlled substances or paraphernalia.

Iris Kay Thompson was arrested from the scene and charged with the Parole Violation warrant, along with:

  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Drug Paraphernalia-Buy or Possess
  • Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree-Drug Unspecified
  • No Operator’s-Moped License
  • Theft of Identity of Another Without Consent

Sean K. Maggard was arrested from the scene and charged with:

  • Alcohol Intoxication In A Public Place
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense Methamphetamine
  • Drug Paraphernalia-Buy or Possess
  • Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree-Drug Unspecified

Both Thompson and Maggard were lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center and at the time of this publishing, both remain housed at the facility.
