Bowling Green, Kentucky Man Charged after Assaulting Deputies Investigating Out-of-Control Subject Complaint at a Motel off KY 770 in Laurel County

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Austyn Weddle along with Deputy Byron Grimes arrested Richard Bill Logsdon age 45 of Bowling Green, KY on Wednesday night February 7, 2024 at approximately 9:44 PM.

LSO logo Blackand Gold 200The arrest occurred at a motel off KY 770 approximately 11 miles South of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of an out-of-control subject that had allegedly been drinking there.

Upon arrival at the scene, Deputy Weddle made contact with the suspect who began to curse and threaten Deputy Weddle creating a disturbance there.

Deputy Weddle learned that allegedly this individual had been seen hitting his mother multiple times.

Deputy Weddle had EMS respond to the scene for a cut above the suspects eye allegedly where a bystander had pushed him down as he struck his mother.

Upon arrest, the suspect struggled with deputies kicking both deputies multiple times before being taken into custody.

Deputies transported the accused to a local hospital for stitches for the laceration above his eye and while there, the suspect cursed nurses.

In addition, deputies noted that the accused threatened to kill deputies when he got out of jail.

Richard Bill Logsdon was charged with:

  • Disorderly conduct – second-degree
  • Resisting arrest
  • Assault – 4th degree – domestic violence
  • Assault – third-degree – police officer is victim
  • Three counts of terroristic threatening – third-degree
  • Alcohol intoxication
  • Menacing

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
