Criminal Mischief one of Numerous Charges during Complaint Investigation in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Bobby Roberts arrested Benjamin Nantz age 19 of London early Friday morning March 8, 2024 at approximately 12:23 A.M..

LSO logo Blackand Gold 200The arrest occurred off Swiss Lane approximately 5 miles west of London after Deputy Roberts was dispatched to a complaint of someone driving a truck through someone's yard and messing the grass up.

Upon arrival in the vicinity of the complaint Deputy Roberts noted observing the suspect vehicle, a dark blue Chevrolet Silverado.

As Deputy Roberts maneuvered his patrol vehicle behind the suspect vehicle, it pulled into a residence failing to signal the turn.

Deputy Roberts noted that as he activated his emergency equipment, the driver slid over into the middle of the seat and stopped the vehicle stating to Deputy Roberts that he was not driving.

Deputy Roberts noted detecting a strong odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from the vehicle and conducted an investigation on the driver determining that he was under the influence.

Benjamin Nantz was charged with:

  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – 1st offense
  • Changing drivers – car in motion – reckless driving
  • Possession of open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle
  • Failure to signal
  • Criminal mischief – third-degree

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
