L: Contraband (PCSO) R: Brandon Tylor Lannum (Pulaski County Detention Center)

ARRESTED: CASH, DRUGS AND FIREARM SEIZED FROM CONVICTED FELON DURING INVESTIGATION AFTER DISREGARDING STOP SIGN IN PULASKI COUNTY, KY

SOMERSET, KY - Pulaski County Sheriff Bobby Jones reports the arrest of a Somerset man after a traffic stop for disregarding a stop sign leads to the discovery of illegal narcotics.

On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at approximately 6:52 am, Deputy Tyler Pearson observed a silver Dodge Magnum make a left hand turn off Empire Spur onto Empire Dr. without making a complete stop. Deputy Pearson performed a traffic stop on the vehicle, and identified the driver as Brandon Taylor Lannum, 33 years of age, Somerset, KY.

Deputy Pearson recognized upon approach that Lannum wasn’t wearing his seat belt. As Lannum was attempting to recover requested vehicle information, Deputy Pearson observed what appeared to be a clear plastic bag with a white substance inside of it.

Deputy Pearson asked Lannum to exit the vehicle, at which time Deputy Pearson also observed syringes common with the use of illegal narcotics.
After a brief search of the vehicle, Deputy Pearson also located a loaded handgun, empty clear plastic baggies common with the trafficking of controlled substances, a loaded syringe and a bullet proof vest.

Deputy Pearson subsequently discovered that Lannum was a convicted felon, and placed him under arrest for the possession of a handgun.

During a search of Lannum, incident to arrest, another clear plastic bag with a white crystal like substance was discovered in his right front pocket.

Brandon Lannum was arrested from the traffic stop and charged with:

  • Disregarding Stop Sign
  • Failure to Wear Seat Belts
  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense-Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon
  • Drug Paraphernalia

Lannum was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
