BUSTED: DRUG SEIZURE, ARREST AFTER SEARCH WARRANT EXECUTION IN LAUREL CO., KY

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel County Sheriff's narcotics detectives along with Sheriff's General investigation detectives in conjunction with DEA successfully and safely executed a drug search warrant at a high risk location arresting one individual following an undercover investigation that resulted in approximately 6 1/2 ounces of methamphetamine being taken into evidence.

When Laurel County Sheriff John Root and detectives , and deputies arrived on scene to execute the search warrant off Newts Way approximately 4 miles South of London on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at approximately 12:20 PM, the suspect would not exit the residence. Laurel Sheriff's Capt. Chris Edwards using a PA system on a police cruiser was able to convince the suspect inside to exit the residence. Detectives noted that the suspect attempted to destroy methamphetamine by flushing it down the toilet but was unsuccessful. Deputies also located glass pipes with residue and scales inside the residence. It was also determined that the suspect was wanted on an outstanding warrant and was also a Kentucky parole violator.

The arrested individual was identified as: Timothy Hampton (left), age 35 of Newt’s Way, London, KY.

Timothy Hampton was charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine
  • Tampering with physical evidence
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia.

In addition, this subject was charged on a Kentucky parole board mandatory reentry supervision violation warrant charging:

  • Absconding parole supervision
  • Failure to report to parole officer as directed regarding a conviction in Laurel Circuit Court on charges of receiving stolen property more than $10,000.

In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:

  • Possession of a controlled substance – first offense – second-degree

Sheriff Root stated “It was a great group effort which ended textbook perfect with no neighbors, bystanders, officers or the accused injured.” “Drug investigations will be continuing by Laurel County Sheriff's narcotics detectives.” DEA is adopting this case for possible prosecution federally.
