To Enhance Service to the Purchase Region, AG Coleman Announces Former Graves County Commonwealth's Attorney Richie Kemp Joins Special Prosecutions Team

FRANKFORT, KY (June 30, 2025) – Attorney General Russell Coleman announced former Commonwealth's Attorney for Graves County Richie Kemp has joined the Attorney General's Special Prosecutions Unit. Kemp served as the elected chief felony prosecutor for Graves County from 2019-2025.

Before his election, he served as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney for a decade in the office.

Kemp will be based out of the Attorney General's office in Benton, further expanding the Office's ability to serve Kentuckians in the western part of the Commonwealth.

As Commonwealth's Attorney, Kemp earned national and statewide recognition, including for his commitment to children impacted by abuse. He graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Law and Murray State University.

"Richie's talent and West Kentucky roots will expand our ability to reach outside of the Golden Triangle to keep families safe," said Attorney General Coleman. "I'm grateful he has chosen to continue to dedicate himself to public service. Together with our entire Special Prosecutions team, Richie is ready to support County and Commonwealth's Attorneys across Kentucky as they deliver justice for Kentuckians."

Since joining the Office, Kemp has already secured an indictment of a Webster County man for the rape of minor.

Kemp joins the Attorney General's Special Prosecutions Unit that is led by Executive Director Tim Cocanougher and Deputy Director Ramsey Dallam.
