LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Detective Justin Taylor arrested Jeremy Nelson, age 45, and Angela Nelson, age 39, both of Newport, TN on Saturday, June 28, 2025.
The arrest occurred at exit 49 off I-75 on the ramp to KY 909 when Detective Taylor developed probable cause to search the vehicle being operated by Angela Nelson.
During the subsequent search suspected Fentanyl, Marijuana, and Methamphetamine were located as well as paraphernalia to include glass pipes and baggies.
Detective Taylor seized the contraband and placed the two subjects under arrest. The Nelsons were later transported to the Laurel County Correctional Center.
Jeremy Nelson was charged with:
- TRAFF IN CONT SUB, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFF - (> OR = 2 GMS METHAMPHETAMINE)
- TICS, 1ST OFFENSE FENTANYL
- TRAF IN MARIJUANA ( LESS THAN 8 OZ.) 1ST OFF
- DRUG PARAPHERNALIA - BUY/POSSESS
Angela Nelson was charged with:
- OPERATING ON SUS OR REV OPER LICENSE
- LICENSE PLATE NOT LEGIBLE
- TRAFF IN CONT SUB, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFF - (> OR = 2 GMS METHAMPHETAMINE)
- TICS, 1ST OFFENSE FENTANYL
- TRAF IN MARIJUANA ( LESS THAN 8 OZ.) 1ST OFF
- DRUG PARAPHERNALIA - BUY/POSSESS
These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
