Columbia County Sheriff's Office
ST. HELENS, OR — The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is deploying two Search and Rescue (SAR) K9 teams to Texas to assist in the recovery of those lost during the recent catastrophic flooding.
At the request of Texas officials, these highly trained K-9 teams will join other units from across the country in helping search devastated areas where families are still awaiting answers.
“This is incredibly difficult work, but it’s also profoundly important,” said Columbia County Sheriff Brian Pixley. “Our hearts are with the victims, their loved ones, and the communities facing unimaginable loss. We’re honored to lend our support however we can.”
The SAR K-9 teams, made up of volunteer handlers and their dogs, assist in the difficult and vital task of locating those who have been lost, serving as part of CCSO’s emergency response efforts. Their deployment reflects CCSO’s ongoing commitment to compassion, mutual aid, and service in times of crisis.
