(Nicholasville, Ky.) - On Monday, March 3, 2014, officers from the Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement/Special Investigations Branch, KSP Post 7 in Richmond and the Nicholasville Police Dept. received information about a large amount of heroin being transported into Jessamine County.
After officers identified the suspect, consent to search was given. During the search, officers found $2,231 in U.S. currency and approximately 13.76 oz. of heroin (street value of $78,000).
Mahmoud Alkhazalah, 60, of Chicago. Ill., was arrested and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree. He was lodged in the Jessamine County Jail.
The investigation is continuing.
