KENTUCKY STATE FAIR TURF CONCERT SERIES LINEUP ANNOUNCED

LOUISVILLE, KY – The Turf Concert Series returns to the Kentucky State Fair for the second year and includes 11 free concerts on the field of Cardinal Stadium. The series, which in past years has consisted of 10 concerts, adds an 11th concert on the final afternoon of the Kentucky State Fair. All concerts included in the Turf Concert Series are free with Kentucky State Fair gate admission.

The 2014 Turf Concert Series features:

Aug. 14             Plain White T’s with special guest A Lion Named Roar

Aug. 15             Morris Day & the Time with special guest Unlimited

Aug. 16             America with special guest Caribou

Aug. 17             Oak Ridge Boys with special guest Marty Brown

Aug. 18             Newsboys with special guest Matthew West

Aug. 19             Kenny Rogers with special guest Belles and Whistles

Aug. 20             Easton Corbin with special guest Olivia Henken

Aug. 21             Happy Together Tour

Aug. 22             Scotty McCreery with special guest Kelsey K

Aug. 23             Joan Jett with special guest Devour the Day

Aug. 24             MercyMe

Plain White T’s, an American pop punk band best known for their No. 1 hit song “Hey There Delilah,” will play on the opening night of the fair. The song reached platinum status in 2007 and earned two Grammy nominations. Their singles “1, 2, 3, 4” and “Rhythm of Love” were also certified platinum in 2009 and 2011.

Folk rock band America will play at Cardinal Stadium on the first Saturday of the fair. The band formed in 1970 and had two No. 1 singles, “A Horse with No Name” and “Sister Golden Hair.”

Country Music Hall of Famer Kenny Rogers has produced 30 No. 1 singles and sold more than 130 million records worldwide, making him one of the highest-selling artists of all time. Some of Rogers’ No. 1 hits include “Lady,” “Lucille” and “Islands in the Stream” with Dolly Parton.

American Idol season ten winner Scotty McCreery will perform at this year’s series. McCreery has had several Billboard Top 20 Country Songs including “I Love You This Big” and “See You Tonight.” Up-and-coming country artist Easton Corbin will also headline one of the concerts. Corbin has produced two No. 1 songs, “A Little More Country That That” and “Roll with It.” Opening for Corbin is Louisville native Olivia Henken who was a contestant on season five of NBC's hit TV show "The Voice.”

Back again this year is the Happy Together Tour. This year’s performance will include The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie, Chuck Negron formerly of Three Dog Night, Mark Farner formerly of Grand Funk Railroad, Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels and Gary Lewis & the Playboys.

New this year, the Turf Concert Series has added an additional concert on the last Sunday of the fair. Christian rock band MercyMe will perform at 4 p.m. on the last Sunday of the Fair. All other concerts have an 8 p.m. start time.

Parking at the Kentucky Exposition Center is $8.
