Traffic crash on KY 472 claims life of Clay County resident

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Mikey Ashurst along with Deputy Shawn Jackson investigated a single vehicle fatal traffic crash which occurred on Ky 472 approximately 10 miles east of London near the Clay County line on Friday night February 13, 2015 at approximately 11:08 P.M.

Deputy Ashurst reports that apparently 2013 green colored Chevrolet Silverado was eastbound on Ky 472 when it entered a right-hand curve, crossed over the center line losing control and dropped off the left shoulder traveling down an embankment and striking two trees before coming to rest.

The driver and only occupant of the vehicle had to be extricated from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was identified as: Leslie Abner age 49 of Manchester.

Assisting at the scene was London Laurel Rescue Squad, McWhorter Volunteer fire department, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, Laurel County Coroner's Office, Constable Chris Webb, Constable Bobby Joe Smith, and Clay County fire units.

Investigation is continuing by Deputy Mikey Ashurst.
