Theft arrest aboard a travel bus in Laurel County

 

 

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Tommy Houston arrested am Ohio man on Saturday afternoon February 28, 2015 at approximately 3:43 P.M.

Arrested was Harley Schwartz age 24 of Hanoverton, Ohio.

The arrest occurred in a business parking lot in southern Laurel County just off I-75 after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of a theft that had allegedly occurred on a travel bus passing through Laurel County.

When deputies arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation they learned that a large sum of money was missing from a female passenger on the bus. The bus driver stopped the bus in southern Laurel County after notifying the Sheriff's office.

Through investigation deputies were able to locate the missing money finding it on a another passenger on the bus.

Harley Schwartz was charged with theft by unlawful taking, and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Assisting on the investigation and arrest was Sgt. Robbie Grimes, Deputy Brandon Broughton, and Deputy Kyle Gray.

Reportedly, the travel bus had been southbound on I-75 and was en route to Knoxville.
