Meth, Pills, Marijuana and Shoplifting arrests

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Shawn Jackson arrested two individuals at Pilot Travel Center off West Cumberland Gap Parkway, approximately 11 miles south of London early Saturday morning March 7, 2015 at approximately 4:17 A.M..

The arrests occurred after Deputy Jackson conducted an investigation on a female subject who had been in the store for three hours and when Deputy Jackson arrived he observed the female subject creating a disturbance by stumbling around, running into shelves, and knocking items into the floor.

Deputy Jackson conducted an investigation on this subject determining that she was under the influence.This female subject stated that she had snorted a line of ice and had snorted a Klonopin.

During the arrest, Deputy Jackson discovered over $190 worth of items that had been concealed that this subject apparently intended to shoplift from the store.

Arrested was Jessica Karr age 29 of West City Dam Road, Corbin, KY charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting; public intoxication – controlled substances; and disorderly conduct – second-degree.

Deputy Jackson also located a male subject passed out in the parking lot in the female subject's vehicle. The male subject appeared to be intoxicated and an investigation conducted by Deputy Jackson determined that he was under the influence.

The male subject stated that he had snorted a line of ice and a lot more stuff, too.

Upon arrest, Deputy Jackson located a blue pill bottle that contained 2 small plastic baggies that contained a substance believed to be crystal meth. Also Deputy Jackson located a package of a Suboxone strip, and a pill believed to be Suboxone.

In addition, Deputy Jackson located another pill in the subject's possession believed to be a Klonopin. In addition Deputy Jackson located this subject in possession of suspected marijuana. The male subject stated it was marijuana that he had been smoking it.

Arrested was Joshua Cox age 31 of Skinner Hollow road, Woodbine charged with public intoxication – controlled substances; possession of a controlled substance first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; possession of a controlled substance – second-degree; possession of a controlled substance – third-degree; and possession of marijuana.

Both subjects were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
