Theft complaint leads to arrest of fugitive from Indiana

 

 

Laurel County, Ky. - Laurel County Sheriff John Root along with Deputy Gilbert Acciardo arrested a Keavy Road resident on Wednesday afternoon March 11, 2015 at approximately 1:19 P.M..

Arrested was Johnny Bowling age 37 of Keavy Road, London, KY.

The arrest occurred off Keavy road approximately 1 mile south of London after Sheriff Root responded to a theft complaint on Keavy Road and upon arriving in the vicinity of the complaint observed a subject known to be a fugitive with an outstanding warrant from Indiana.

When Sheriff Root stepped out of his vehicle, this subject fled on foot and following a short chase was caught by the Sheriff near a doorway under a carport at a residence there. This subject appeared to be intoxicated and following an investigation by Sheriff Root was determined to be under the influence.

In addition, this subject was found in possession of a syringe in his pant's pocket and a taped up paper containing 12 round pills identified as Methadone (that this subject claimed he was keeping for his father). This subject stated the syringe belonged to a friend of his.

Johnny Bowling was charged with public intoxication – controlled substances; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of a controlled substance second-degree; fleeing or evading police 2nd degree-on foot; and prescription controlled substances not in proper container – first offense.

Also this subject was charged on a Laurel County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding a theft – shoplifting charge. In addition, this subject is a wanted fugitive from Indiana.

Johnny Bowling was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Assisting on the arrest was Deputy Kevin Berry, Cpl. Jack Caudill, and Bailiff Cody Faulconer.
