Intoxicated man at store eating food & not paying - Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that deputy Shawn Jackson arrested Darrell Jones age 22, of Williamsburg early Tuesday morning March 31, 2015 at approximately 12:47 A.M..

The arrest occurred off US 25 approximately 5 miles south of London after Deputy Jackson was dispatched to a complaint that a male subject was in a gas station, and had been there a very long time, and was taking food items off the shelves, eating them and then stating that he did not have money to pay for them.

When Deputy Jackson arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation he learned that this subject had been in the store for approximately 4 to 5 hours. Deputy Jackson noted that this subject appeared to be intoxicated and conducted an investigation determining that he was under the influence.

Deputy Jackson noted needle track marks on the inside of both arms with one track mark being very fresh. In addition, a needle and syringe were found in this subject's possession and he stated that he had used the needle to shoot up crystal meth and Suboxone.

Deputy Jackson learned that this subject had taken candy and snack food items, opened them, eaten them, and then refused to pay the store clerks.

Darrell Jones was charged with public intoxication – controlled substances; theft by unlawful taking; and possession of drug paraphernalia and was lodged in the Laurel County detention Center.
