Intoxicated driver hits cart return at Walmart - Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Kyle Gray arrested two individuals at Corbin Walmart parking lot at approximately 10 miles south of London on Tuesday evening April 7, 2015 at approximately 5:30 P.M.

The arrests were the result of an investigation conducted by Deputy Gray after he received a complaint that a silver colored Kia Sephia had struck a cart return in the parking lot of Walmart.

When Deputy Gray arrived at the scene, he determined that both the driver and passenger in the vehicle were under the influence.

Danny Peace age 39 of Johnny Miller Rd., Williamsburg was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – second offense; driving on DUI suspended license first offense; failure of non owner operator to maintain required insurance – first offense; careless driving; possession of drug paraphernalia; prescription controlled substances not in proper container – first offense; and other traffic offenses.

Several different types of pills were found in his possession along with a small straw with white powder residue.

Also arrested was the passenger identified as Jesse Griffith age 29 of Deep Branch Rd., Williamsburg charged with public intoxication – controlled substances; possession of drug paraphernalia; and prescription controlled substances not in proper container – first offense.

Both individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
