Attorney General Conway Announces Arrest and Arraignment of Louisville Man for Child Porn

Attorney General Jack Conway and his Cybercrimes Unit have announced the arrest of a Louisville man on multiple counts of possessing child pornography.

Christopher Churchill, 36, was arrested Tuesday afternoon by General Conway’s Cybercrime investigators, after a search warrant was executed at his residence in Louisville.

The charges are the result of an investigation that began in February 2015. Investigators with the Cybercrimes Unit, along with officers from the Saint Matthews Police Department, executed a search warrant yesterday at Churchill’s home looking for computers and other equipment used to distribute images and videos of exploited children.

Churchill is charged with two counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. These crimes are Class D felonies and punishable by one to five years in prison.

This case is currently being prosecuted by the Office of Jefferson County Attorney, Mike O’Connell. Churchill remains in custody with a $50,000 bond. He has been ordered to have no contact with any minor children. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 4, at 9:00 a.m. in Jefferson District Court.

A charge is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

General Conway’s Cybercrimes Unit Since its creation in June 2008, Attorney General Conway’s Cybercrimes Unit has launched more than 450 child pornography investigations and seized nearly 700,000 child pornographic images and videos from the Internet. The unit is also a member of the U.S. Dept. of Justice’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
