Update (Arrest Made) - KSP Investigates Escaped Inmate in Madison County

(Richmond, KY) – The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, has been contacted by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and told that their deputies have found and arrested Alexandria L. Smith, 27 years old of Richmond. Smith has been lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Trooper Ken Bradley.

The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post is looking for an inmate that escaped from the Madison County Detention Center at approximately 2:00 pm today.

The initial investigation alleges that Alexandria L. Smith, 27 years old of Richmond, escaped from the jail and fled on foot. Several agencies, including the Kentucky State Police, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Richmond Police Department, and the Madison County Detention Center conducted a search of the area, but were unable to find Smith. She was last seen wearing a yellow plaid shirt, jean shorts, and flip flops. Smith is described as being approximately 5'4" tall, weighing 125 pounds, with shoulder length blonde hair. She was in the detention center after being arrested yesterday on a warrant for Theft by Deception and Failure to Appear.
