Death Investigation in Harlan County, KY

(Evarts, Ky.) On May 11, 2015 at approximately 09:47 a.m. Kentucky State Police, Post 10 received a call about an unresponsive female at 133 Scoville Street in the Evarts community of Harlan County.

Evarts Police Department arrived on the scene and determined the scene was suspicious and requested KSP respond.

Detectives Josh Howard and Josh Brashear responded along with Sgt. Jason Joseph, Sgt. Jackie Rogers, Tpr. John Carlock, and Tpr. Mike Cornett.

The female was identified as 48 year-old Roasie L Melton.

Mrs. Melton was pronounced dead at the scene by the Harlan County Deputy Coroner Jim Rich.

The body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Frankfort for an autopsy.

No other information is available at this time.

The case is under investigation by Det. Josh Howard.
