Armed Man Shot by Trooper in Pike County




(Elkhorn City, KY) - The Kentucky State Police Post 9 is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred on May 27, 2015 in Pike County.

Troopers from Post 9 responded to the Wolfpit community regarding a shots fired complaint.

As Troopers approached a residence, Donald K. May began firing multiple gunshots in their direction.

A Trooper returned fire and struck May. May was transported to Pikeville Medical Center for medical treatment.

He was later released and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center on four counts of Attempted Murder of a Police Officer.

No Troopers were injuried during this incident.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Lieutenant Jennifer Sandlin with Kentucky State Police.
