KSP Investigates School Bus/ Pickup Collision in Lee County

(Berea, KY) — The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, is investigating a collision involving a school bus that happened around 3:48 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, on HWY 52, in Lee County.

The initial investigation has revealed that Timothy W. Osborne, 50 years old of Beattyville, was driving a school bus on Blaines Branch road.

While making right turn on KY 52, the school bus crossed into the west bound lane, striking a 2006 Ford F-150 driven by Thomas R. Reese, 70 years old of Beattyville.

Osborne the overcorrected, ran off the roadway and over an embankment.

The bus was occupied by 20 children.

One child was transported by ambulance to the Jackson Hospital in Breathitt County with non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

The investigation is being conducted by Trooper Ty Robinson. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Personnel, Lee County EMS, Lee County Fire & Rescue.
