DUI and other arrest in Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that deputy Tommy Houston assisted by Constable Denver Mays arrested two individuals on KY 490 approximately 5 miles north of London early Friday morning May 29, 2015 at approximately 1:10 A.M.

The arrests occurred after deputies observed a silver colored Chevrolet Impala failed to stop at a stop sign and officers conducted a traffic stop on that vehicle.

An investigation was conducted and the driver was determined to be under the influence and was arrested. The driver was identified as Garry Sulfridge age 34 of Witt road, London charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – third offense; disregarding a stop sign; failure to signal; driving on DUI suspended license – second offense; and failure to wear seatbelts.

The passenger was also arrested after officers found this subject in possession of a loaded handgun and learned that he was a convicted felon. Also this subject tried to give officers a false name and Social Security number – officers determined there were outstanding warrants on this subject.

The passenger was identified as Dustin Williams age 23 of Ward Cemetery Road, London charged with giving an officer a false name or address; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; and carrying a concealed weapon.

In addition, this subject was charged on a Hopkins County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding a theft charge. Also this subject was charged on a Warren County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding a charge of operating on suspended or revoked license and speeding.

Both individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
