Update (Arrest Made) KSP Investigates Escaped Inmate in Estill County

(Irvine, KY) The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, was contacted this morning around 7:30 am, about a person riding a bicycle, on Eck Hollow road in Estill County, that matched the description of Jason Gay.

Kentucky State Police dispatched several Troopers to the area, where they located Jason Gay, 37 years old of Berea.

Gay was arrested without incident, and is lodged in Estill County Detention Center.

Gay is charged with escape 2nd, theft by unlawful taking of automobile and theft by unlawful taking.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Trooper Zach Pennington.

Release Date: 06-02-2015 (Irvine, KY) - The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post was notified that an inmate escaped from the custody of an Estill County Deputy, on Kirkland Ave. in Irvine last night.

The initial investigation alleges that Jason Gay 37 years old of Berea, escaped last night at approximately 11:30 pm. It is alleged that Gay escaped custody of an Estill County deputy while being transported to Estill County Jail. Gay then allegedly stole a 1988 Dodge Dakota from the EH water plant in Irvine. Vehicle was later located unoccupied in Irvine. Gay is still at large at this time

Gay being detained for receiving stolen property and drug related charges.

Jason Gay is described as being approximately 5’7” tall and weighing 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing an orange hooded sweat shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.
