(Somerset, KY.) – On Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at approximately 7:04 PM, Kentucky State Police Post 11 London, received a report of a two vehicle traffic crash involving a Kentucky State Trooper on US HWY 27 at the intersection of Waitsboro RD in Pulaski County.
Upon arrival Traffic Crash Reconstructionist Trooper Delzie Kelly determined that Trooper Joshua Brainard was traveling southbound on US HWY 27 operating a marked 2011 Ford Crown Victoria patrol car, when a 2004 Toyota Corola traveling eastbound on Waitsboro RD being operated by Denese L. Koval, 56, of Nancy, KY pulled into his path causing a collision.
Trooper Brainard was taken to the Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.
Koval was transported to the Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center where she was later pronounced deceased by the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office.
Trooper Delzie Kelly is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by KSP SGT Steve Smallwood, SGT Tony Dingess Troopers from Post 11, Somerset Police Department, Burnside Police Department, Parkersmill Fire Department, Somerset Fire Department
