Man with sign accused of creating a traffic hazard - Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Larry Parrott arrested Jon Atha age 45 of Fairfield Ohio on Wednesday evening July 8, 2015 at approximately 7:18 PM.

The arrest occurred on West Cumberland Gap Pkwy. approximately 11 miles south of London after Deputy Parrott was dispatched to a subject trying to get money from motorists passing by – and apparently disrupting traffic.

When Deputy Parrott arrived at the scene he observed this subject at the intersection of Cherry Avenue holding a sign that read --" parents killed by ninjas, I need martial arts lessons, please help".

Deputy Parrott conducted an investigation determining that this subject was under the influence – this subject admitted to drinking beer.

Deputy Parrott determined that this subject was creating a traffic hazard there.

Jon Atha was charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place and disorderly conduct – second-degree and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
