Walmart debit/credit card case - Female subject turns herself in at the Laurel County Sheriff's office

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that deputy Larry Parrott arrested Rebecca Pruitt age 35 W. Laurel Rd. – Highway 192, London on Monday, July 13, 2015 at approximately 1:52 PM.

The arrest occurred following an investigation conducted by Deputy Parrott after a female subject paid for items at Walmart near Corbin using stolen credit/debit card information on July 7, 2015-- value of the thefts was in excess of $374.

Walmart's loss prevention team provided Deputy Parrott with video surveillance showing this female subject at a register using the stolen credit/debit card information. In addition, it showed this subject leaving in a yellow colored Monte Carlo with a flag on the rear bumper.

The Sheriff's office placed the surveillance photos on our Facebook page and released the information to area TV, radio and newspaper outlets.

Numerous tips were received from the public and helped in identifying this subject involved in the theft.

On Monday afternoon July 13, 2015, the female subject turned herself in at the Laurel County Sheriff's office. She stated she knew deputies were looking for her.

This subject admitted finding the card and admitted using it four times at Walmart near Corbin and then throwing it away in a dumpster.

Rebecca Pruitt was charged with theft by unlawful taking and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
