DUI arrest with drugs found / numerous charges - Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Kyle Gray along with Sgt. Brett Reeves and Deputy Andrew Lawson assisted by Police Lieut. Taylor arrested Jimmy Norman age 38 of Jims Lane, Corbin early Thursday morning July 16, 2015 at approximately 1:36 AM.

The arrest occurred in Walmart's parking lot in southern Laurel County after deputies responded to a complaint of a male subject trying to get into parked vehicles in the parking lot.

When deputies arrived at the scene they located this subject in the driver's seat of a orange Hyundai Tiburon passed out. The vehicle was locked and deputies had to bang on the driver's door to awaken this subject, and had him exit the driver's seat.

An investigation was conducted and this subject was determined to be under the influence.

This subject stated he had been taking several different types of pills, Suboxone, and smoked marijuana earlier.

Deputies also located this subject in possession of clear crystals determined to be methamphetamine, digital scales, and two pipes used to smoke marijuana as well as finding a pill container with three different types of pills in this subject's possession.

Jimmy Norman was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; possession of a controlled substance first-degree first offense – methamphetamine; trafficking in a controlled substance – first degree – first offense – methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia; prescription controlled substances not in proper container – first offense; operating on suspended or revoked license; failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance - first offense; failure to surrender revoked operators license; and numerous other traffic offenses.

In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel County bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court regarding a traffic violation.
