Wallet thief identified and arrested - Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Larry Parrott arrested Justin Joseph age 28 Of Rainbow Dr., Wooton, KY on Sunday evening July 19, 2015 at approximately 6:43 PM.

The arrest occurred after information developed after receiving numerous tips concerning the theft of a wallet that had accidentally been left on the checkout counter at Parkway Mini Mart located on Kentucky 638 near London on July 7, 2015.

The wallet's owner had forgotten the wallet on the counter and surveillance video showed this suspect picking the wallet up, looking around and then leaving with the wallet and leaving in his white colored Jeep.

This subject told Deputy Parrott that he did take the wallet but stated that he thought it was his. He stated that when he got home and discovered it was someone else's, he got scared and threw it in a creek behind his house.

The wallet and its contents have not been recovered.

Justin Joseph was charged with theft by unlawful taking and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Information concerning this theft was sent to area media outlets, TV stations, and posted on the Sheriff's office Facebook page. As a result numerous tips were phoned in, and one of those tips assisted Deputy Parrott in locating this suspect.
