Two stolen pickups and other items that may be stolen recovered / 2 arrested - Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Detective Kevin Berry charged two subjects on Wednesday afternoon July 22, 2015 at approximately 3:56 PM while investigating a complaint of possible stolen property located at a residence on Highway 490 approximately 8 miles north of London.

Detective Kevin Berry along with Sheriff John Root, Capt. Chuck Johnson, Lieut. Greg Poynter, Sgt. Phil Barnard, and Deputy Brandon Broughton located in a barn there, a 2004 pickup partially disassembled, and a 1998 Chevrolet truck that had been completely disassembled and cut into numerous parts and pieces.

The 2004 pickup had been stolen from a restaurant parking lot in London in May, and the 1998 pickup had been stolen from East Bernstadt in April.

Investigation determined the vehicles were reported stolen vehicles. VIN numbers had been removed and destroyed. Arrested at the scene was Ronnie Davis age 48 of Highway 490, East Bernstadt charged with receiving stolen property $10,000 or more; criminal mischief – first-degree; tampering with physical evidence; and destruction of a VIN number. This subject was lodged in the Laurel County Detention center.

Also charged was an individual that had been lodged in jail the day before on unrelated charges of burglary--- this subject was identified as: Timothy Fields age 53 of Jackson Rd., East Bernstadt charged with: with receiving stolen property $10,000 or more; criminal mischief – first-degree; tampering with physical evidence; and destruction of a VIN number. This subject remains lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Also recovered at the scene were trailers, four wheelers, a kayak, and other items that may be stolen.
