DUI and Deadly Weapon arrest of a Manchester man - Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Kyle Gray along with Deputy Brandon Broughton and Deputy Travis Napier arrested Larry Swafford age 53 Mountain View Heights Apartments, Manchester on Monday afternoon August 3, 2015 at approximately 4:10 P.M.

The arrest occurred off E. Laurel Rd., approximately 5 miles east of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint that there was a gold colored Nissan frontier sitting in front of a residence with the engine still running.

When deputies arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation they located the driver nearby and found .25 caliber handgun in this subject's possession.

This subject had the strong odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from his person and an investigation determined that he was under the influence.

Allegedly this subject was trying to go to his brothers residence in Clay County and this subject thought he was still in Clay County.

Larry Swafford was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – second offense; failure of owner to maintain required insurance – first offense; possession of open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle prohibited; carrying a concealed weapon; and other traffic violations and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
