Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Andrew Lawson assisted by Kentucky State police arrested Johnny Brandt age 28 of Jamestown St., Russell Springs, KY early Friday morning August 7, 2015 at approximately 4:57 AM.
The arrest occurred after Deputy Lawson who was on routine patrol observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and conducted a traffic stop on it determining that the passenger was under the influence.
Deputy Lawson could smell the odor of marijuana emitting from this subject and following an investigation found this subject in possession of a Marlboro cigarette pack containing an assortment of pills.
This subject advised that the pills were his. Johnny Brandt was charged with possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense; illegal possession of legend drug; possession of a controlled substance – third-degree; and prescription controlled substances not in proper container second offense.
This subject was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
