Victim airlifted after shooting incident on KY 472 in Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Detective Kevin Berry is investigating a shooting which occurred on Monday afternoon October 26, 2015 at approximately 5 P.M., approximately 9 miles east of London off Kentucky 472.

The investigating detective reports that apparently a domestic argument occurred at the residence of Earl and Shirley Fields involving these two individuals who lived at the residence, and Shirley Fields's brother James House, who lived across the road.

An altercation occurred between the three individuals where allegedly gunshots were fired by both brother-in-laws, with Earl Fields being shot multiple times. The victim was airlifted from the scene to UK hospital for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds.

Assisting at the scene was Sheriff John Root, Lieut. Greg Poynter, Sgt. Robbie Grimes, Deputy Jamie Grimes, Deputy Brandon Broughton, and Deputy Kyle Gray.

Also assisting was KSP Trooper Jack Riley, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, McWhorter Volunteer Fire department, and PHI helicopter.

Investigation into the circumstances of the shooting is continuing.

A presentation of this case will be made before the next term of the Laurel County Grand Jury.
