Robert L. Mason was the youngest of three children born to Lacomis and Dorothy Mason in Lisman, Kentucky on March 28, 1948. After graduating from high school Robert enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
In 1994, he became acquainted with, and developed a strong bond with a fellow Veteran and former newspaper publisher Col. T. C. Sizemore, Robert then moved to Manchester, Kentucky to write for a weekly newspaper. One of his articles which showed Robert's true affection for the area was titled "Three Days in Manchester". Wrote Robert..."I feel more a part of this community than any other place that I have ever lived". He would remain a Manchester resident until his untimely death earlier this month.

Robert L. Mason passed away on November 2, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Mason, sister, Ann Joyce (Marshall), eight children, twenty-four grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and a host of cousins and friends.He was a Deacon of Bible Way Church of God In Christ in Louisville and Church of God In Christ Mission in Manchester, Pastor Supt. Robert L. Mason was laid to rest on Saturday November 7, 2015 in the Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery, Providence, KY.
A memorial service for Robert L.Mason will be held in Manchester-Clay County on Saturday November 14, 2015 at the Church of God In Christ Mission, 305 Bridge Street, Manchester, KY 40962.
The service will begin at 1:00 P.M.
