Mother and babysitter of female infant facing Endangering the Welfare of a Minor & other charges in Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Kyle Gray along with Deputy Brandon Broughton arrested two individuals at Corbin Manner Apartments, approximately 8 miles south of London on Wednesday evening November 11, 2015 at approximately 5:15 P.M.

The arrest occurred after deputies were dispatched to a complaint that some individuals were smoking marijuana. When deputies arrived at the scene they detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the apartment and conducted an additional investigation finding a female subject along with her five-month-old infant daughter and a male subject inside the residence.

The female subject admitted smoking marijuana just prior to deputies arrival at the scene. Deputies found a glass jar inside the baby crib in the bedroom that contained suspected marijuana. They also located a glass pipe used to smoke marijuana inside the baby crib. Other drug paraphernalia was located in the bedroom next to the baby crib.

The female subject stated that the male subject was babysitting her five month old daughter while she was smoking marijuana.

Arrested was:

Autumn Martin age 20 of Corbin Manor Apartments charged with endangering the welfare of a minor; public intoxication – controlled substances; possession of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Aaron Byers age 43 of Keavy Road, London charged with endangering the welfare of a minor; public intoxication – controlled substances; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Deputies notified social services to respond to the scene regarding the five-month-old female infant, and the infant was placed with relatives of the mother.
