Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Tommy Houston arrested Theresa Jarvis age 52 of South Main St., Corbin on Sunday morning January 3, 2016 at approximately 12:54 AM.
The arrest occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after Walmart's loss prevention team detained this subject. When Deputy Houston arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation he learned that this subject had allegedly been observed in the store for several hours switching tags on merchandise, and then proceeding to self checkout paying for some items but not all items.
Total value of the theft was $411.
Teresa Jarvis was charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting and public intoxication – controlled substances. Deputy Houston determined that this subject was under the influence – subject admitted she had taken Suboxone earlier.
In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication – controlled substances.
Theresa Jarvis was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
