Man charged with Attempted Murder of KSP Trooper



(CECILIA, KY.) - Kentucky State Police Post 4 Troopers have arrested a Hardin County man for firing a weapon at a Trooper.

On February 6, 2016 at approximately 5:47 P.M. EDST, KSP Post 4 Trooper Luke Durbin was attempting to make contact and conduct an interview with Dustin Ray Thomas (22) at 1068 Wonderland Cavern Road in regards to a burglary investigation.

Trooper Durbin was unable to locate anyone at the residence and was returning to his car; when a shot was fired at him from a detached garage next to the house. Troopers responded to the area and several attempts were made to contact Mr. Thomas with no response.

The KSP Special response team was deployed to the scene and after several hours Troopers were able to safely take Thomas into custody. He was then charged with Attempted Murder-Police Officer and lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.

There were no injuries at the scene.

The case remains under investigation by KSP Post 4 personnel.
