Theft in progress foiled by Police in Whitley County


Whitley County, KY - The WCSD is reporting that at around 3 a.m. Monday, February 29, 2016, Lieutenant Dennis Foley received a report of a suspected theft in progress outside an Emlyn Cemetery Road residence.

A female stated she woke up to noises and discovered a man was inside her car, which was parked in the driveway.

Williamsburg Police Department Sergeant Brandon White responded to assist Lt. Foley.

When Sgt. White arrived, he located 25-year-old Kevin J. Llewellyn beside the caller’s car and detained him.

The victim told Lt. Foley that she had seen the male going through her car, including the trunk area.

In Llewellyn’s possession were items that the victim stated were hers, and there were signs of damage to the vehicle.

Llewellyn appeared to be under the influence and was arrested for public intoxication, theft by unlawful taking (under $500), third-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
