Arrest after LSO deputies dispatched to a burglary in progress


Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Tommy Houston along with Deputy Travis Napier arrested Douglas Bailey age 40 of East Highway 3094, East Bernstadt early Sunday morning March 13, 2016 at approximately 1:33 AM.

The arrest occurred off old KY 30, approximately 4 miles north of London after deputies were dispatched to a burglary in progress there.

When deputies arrived at the scene they learned that this subject had apparently been observed attempting to break into a residence near Carmichael Church. While deputies were at the scene the home owner pointed out this subject that was nearby.

Deputies observed this subject with an object in his hand and not knowing what it was deputies attempted to take control of the subject and after numerous verbal commands were able to take this subject into custody.

Investigation determined that apparently this subject had broken a basement door glass attempting entry into the residence. In addition, deputies determined that this subject had allegedly broken into a church van nearby and also had cut wires to an outside electrical box attempting to break into Carmichael Church nearby.

Douglas Bailey was charged with burglary – second-degree; burglary – third-degree; public intoxication – controlled substances; menacing; disorderly conduct – second-degree; and criminal trespassing third-degree.

Douglas Bailey was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
