Subject told KSP Trooper he wasn’t going to jail - Knox County

(Corbin, Ky.) – On March 17, 2016 at 10:12 p.m. Kentucky State Police Trooper Sammy Faris from Post 10 Harlan was patrolling KY 3606 in the Corbin community of Knox County. Tpr. Faris observed a 2002 Chevrolet passenger car cross the center line several times.

Trooper Faris conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver and two passengers in the vehicle. During the traffic stop, Tpr. Faris determined the two passengers had active warrants on them. Derrick Partin was arrested and placed into custody.

Tpr. Faris made contact with the front passenger, Tyler Ramey and told him to exit the vehicle and Mr. Ramey refused and stated he wasn’t going to jail.

The operator of the vehicle, Brandi Calloway then sped off and turned onto KY 6. Tpr. Faris continued to pursue the vehicle until the vehicle became stuck in a ditch. Tpr. Faris was able to arrest Mr. Ramey and Ms. Calloway.

All three individuals were arrested and taken to the Knox County Detention Center.

Ms. Calloway was charged with the following charges:

1. DUI
2. No Seat belt
3. Operating on suspended license
4. Possession of drug paraphernalia
5. No insurance
6. No registration
7. Reckless driving
8. Fleeing or evading police 1st degree
9. Wanton endangerment 1st degree
