DUI injury crash into house - Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Rick Cloyd investigated a single vehicle injury traffic crash that occurred on KY 80 approximately 8 miles east of London on Friday afternoon March 25, 2016 at approximately 3:25 PM.

The investigating deputy reports that apparently a blue colored 1998 Toyota four-door car was traveling eastbound on KY 80 when the vehicle traveled out of control, leaving the roadway and traveling almost completely through a vacant house that sat next to the actual homeowners home.

Extensive damage was done to the home. The car belonged to the driver's father. Deputy Cloyd conducted an investigation and determined that the driver was under the influence. He also determined that airbags deployed in the front seat perhaps saving the driver and passenger from more extensive injuries.

The right front passenger was thrown into the back seat of the car. In the backseat of the car was a five-month-old child belonging to the couple who were boyfriend girlfriend. The child was properly secured in a child safety seat and was not injured. The driver and a passenger were transported by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County to St. Joseph Hospital London for treatment of injuries.

The driver was identified as Christopher Hoskins age 36 of Maple Grove School Road, London, KY and due to his injuries this subject was cited by Deputy Cloyd for operating a motor vehicle under the influence with a pending court date.

Social services were notified and Deputy Cloyd expects to file more charges.

The passenger was identified as Kayla Holland age 26 of Maple Grove School Road, London, KY was transported to London St. Joseph Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Assisting at the scene of the crash was Ernest Rudder and the Bush Volunteer Fire Department.

Deputy Cloyd's investigation continues.
