Fight complaint leads to arrest on US 25 in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Kyle Gray along with Deputy Rick Cloyd, Deputy Brandon Broughton, Deputy Tommy Houston, and Deputy Charlie Johnson arrested a male subject of Tidal Wave Rd., Corbin, on Sunday night, March 27, 2016, at approximately 10:05 PM.

Arrested was Elmo Carroll, age 32.  The arrest occurred off US 25, approximately 8 miles south of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint that several subjects were fighting in one of the residences there.

When deputies arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation, they learned that this subject had allegedly been intoxicated and began fighting with his girlfriend and her father inside a residence.

Allegedly this subject struck his girlfriend's father knocking him to the ground outside. In addition, this subject allegedly pushed his girlfriend down inside the residence.

Several items inside the residence had been broken by this subject. This subject had left the scene prior to deputies arriving, however returned to the scene and became very irate, yelling and cursing neighbors and creating a disturbance there.

When placed under arrest, this subject struggled briefly with deputies trying to escape. In addition, this subject yelled at his girlfriend saying he would take care of her when he got out of jail.

Elmo Carroll was charged with assault – fourth degree – domestic violence; assault – fourth degree; disorderly conduct – second degree; menacing; criminal trespassing – third-degree; criminal mischief – second degree; public intoxication – controlled substances; terroristic threatening – third-degree; and resisting arrest and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

This subject was also charged on a Laurel County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding a charge of public intoxication – controlled substances. Photo of accused is courtesy of the Laurel County Detention Center.
