49-year-old charged with assaulting elderly father in Laurel County


Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Kyle Gray arrested a male subject of Dogwood Ln., Lily, on Monday night, March 28, 2016, at approximately 7:50 PM.

Arrested was Randy Stewart, age 49.  The arrest occurred off Dogwood Lane approximately 7 miles south of London after Deputy Gray was dispatched to a complaint that this subject would not let his elderly dad go to the hospital.

When Deputy Gray arrived at the scene and encountered this subject, he appeared to be very intoxicated and he was making threats toward his dad.

It was learned through investigation that this subject had allegedly pushed his dad down. This subject stated he had taken a bunch of pills and drank a fifth of liquor. This subject created a disturbance at the scene yelling and cursing EMS and neighbors.

Upon arrest, this subject became more irate and attempted to flee hitting the windows in the police cruiser and creating a disturbance trying to get out of the police car.

Randy Stewart was charged with assault – fourth degree – domestic violence; disorderly conduct – second degree; public intoxication – controlled substances; and resisting arrest and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
