LSO town hall meeting huge success

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office in cooperation with Bush Volunteer Fire Department hosted a Town Hall Meeting at the Bush Fire Department building located on Marydell Road, 12 miles east of London on Tuesday April 12, 2016 at 6 P.M.

Sheriff John Root, Major Rodney Van Zant, Capt. Chuck Johnson, Lt. Greg Poynter, and numerous deputies were in attendance along with approx. 80 area citizens.

This meeting was another of quarterly meetings that Sheriff Root promised the people of Laurel County to be conducted all over Laurel County. It was another occasion for citizens to meet their sheriff and other “elected” county officials, and to ask questions.

Topics discussed were the number of complaint calls, and other issues and concerns occurring in their community. In addition, Special Deputy Elizabeth Sparks introduced the sheriff's office new child safety program which will be implemented early summer.

Numerous other elected officials were in attendance as well to include:

County Clerk Dean Johnson, PVA Joyce Parker, State Senator Albert Robinson and newly appointed Laurel Circuit Judge Danny Evans. Also in attendance were numerous candidates for the upcoming election.

Many thanks to all the citizens who attended, and a special thanks to Chief Phil Williams, and the Bush Volunteer Fire Department! The food provided by Bush Fire Department was wonderful!

The next town hall meeting will be on a date to be announced.
