(LONDON, KY.) – On Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at approximately 3:05 PM, Kentucky State Police Post 11, London received a report of traffic collision involving a pedestrian on the property of the Southwestern High School in Pulaski County.
Upon arrival, Trooper Joshua Brainard determined that a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck operated by Windell R. Phelps, 62, of Somerset, struck Doyle W. Patterson, 69, of Somerset, as he was standing on an access road. Mr. Patterson was preparing to direct traffic when school was dismissed.
Patterson, was flown from the scene to the University of Tennessee Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.
No drug or alcohol usage was suspected.
Trooper Brainard is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by Somerset Fire Department, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and Pulaski County EMS.
