MPD charge woman with Wanton Endangerment

Manchester, KY - The Manchester Police Department is reporting that in the evening hours on May 5, 2016 Officer Jimmy Smith was dispatched to two small children unsupervised at the intersection of US 421 and Memorial Drive.

Upon arrival Officer Smith discovered two small toddlers. The toddlers were very poorly dressed for the weather. Officer Smith took the toddlers into protective custody and the Cabinet For Family Based Services was notified.

After a search for the toddlers guardians Officer Smith discovered that they were the children of Nicole Hamilton of Potter Lane. Officer Smith made contact with Nicole Hamilton who did not know the children were gone.

Nicole Hamilton was arrested for 2 counts of Wanton Endangerment, Child Abuse, and violation of a Kentucky DVO and lodged in the Clay County Detention Center.

Assistant Chief Patrick Robinson stated "This could have been a bad situation. The toddlers made it from the Town Branch area to the intersection which is a long distance. Luckily we have good people in Clay County that seen the situation and knew something was not right and was willing to help."
