Police Memorial Week 2016

Laurel County, Kentucky Sheriff John Root is reporting  that each May, our country and our state salutes the men and women who put their lives on the line each day to protect and serve the citizens of our great nation

On Peace Officers Memorial Day - May 15th and during Police Memorial Week -  May 15-May 21st, we recognize all those who have dedicated their lives to protecting our citizens.

Our law enforcement officers have extremely tough jobs. They regularly work in dangerous situations, both night and day, 24 hours a day,7 days a week, 365 days a year committed to keeping everyone safe and secure. These professionals serve to protect our communities and they deserve to go home safely to their loved ones at the end of each shift.

Our police officers are mentors at our schools, familiar faces around each corner and leaders in our communities. They keep our communities secure and our roads safe, and in times of crisis they rush toward danger. They are men and women who have dedicated their lives to public service, working every day to serve and protect.

This week and every week, let us remember those officers who laid down their lives for ours and honor all who strive to make our country and Laurel County more safe.

I would like to thank all our businesses and citizens for the tremendous support they show each and every day to Laurel County deputies and staff!
