Complaint: Cursing people and creating a disturbance


Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Sgt. Larry Parrott along with Deputy Brandon Broughton assisted by Corbin City Police arrested Dustin Burkhart age 19 of Huff School Rd., Gray Hawk, Kentucky on Monday evening May 23, 2016 at approximately 6:52 PM.

The arrest occurred on American greeting card road, approximately 9 miles south of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint that a subject that was apparently intoxicated was on American greeting card road and was cursing people and creating a disturbance in the area.

Sgt. Parrott arrived at the scene first and encountered this subject near American greeting card road, cursing loudly at others and at Sgt. Parrott. Sgt. Parrott attempted an arrest on this subject who scuffled with Sgt. Parrott kicking him in the legs. Following a struggle with this subject, and with assistance from Corbin City Police and Deputy Brandon Broughton, this subject was taken into custody.

All three officers had to physically place him in the police cruiser. This subject continued to create a disturbance all the way to the detention facility and continued to struggle with officers while being removed from the police cruiser continuing to fight with deputies. Three deputies removed this subject from the vehicle.

Dustin Burkhart was charged with public intoxication – controlled substances; resisting arrest; menacing; assault – fourth degree; and disorderly conduct – second-degree and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
