London, KY (June 22, 2016) - On Friday, June 17, 2016 Trooper Adam Childress, from the Kentucky State Police Post 11, London, was honored at a state wide award ceremony held in Lexington.

Trooper Adam Childress, who was named the 2015 Post 11 Trooper of the Year, was awarded the state wide 2015 “Trooper of the Year”.
Details of Trooper Childress’ achievements which led to the award are as follows:
While relatively new to the Agency, Trooper Childress has over thirteen years of law enforcement experience. He served for ten years as a Deputy with the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office where, in addition to his regular patrol duties, he was also a member of the department's SWAT team and a Taser instructor. His work ethic and drive to succeed allowed him to achieve a lifelong goal of becoming a Kentucky State Trooper. He graduated from the KSP Academy with Cadet Class # 90 in July of 2012. Trooper Childress is currently assigned to Pulaski and Wayne Counties.Trooper Childress issued a total of 2,249 citations. Of those 2,249 citations, 68 were for DUI, 60 were for speeding, 335 for failure to wear seat belt and 19 for failure to use a child restraint device. These four areas comprise the bulk of contributing factors to injury and fatality accidents. In addition to his traffic enforcement efforts, Trooper Childress responded to a total of 829 complaints. Of these 829, 35 required more thorough criminal investigation. Trooper Childress was able to make 520 criminal arrests as a result of his efforts.
In addition to his regular duties as a Trooper, Adam Childress is very instrumental assisting the Public Affairs officer with raising monies for the Post 11, "Shop with a Trooper" program. During 2015, Trooper Childress raised over a thousand dollars toward this cause. He also participated in the Special Olympics, "Tip-A-Cop" fund raiser at the Texas Roadhouse. No matter what the cause, Trooper Childress is always one of the first to step up and say, "include me".
During a visit to the grave of fallen officer Trooper John Hutchison, Trooper Childress noticed someone had vandalized the headstone. Trooper Childress took it upon himself to contact the company who produced the headstone and secured an estimate to have it repaired. Trooper Childress has been raising the money needed to make the needed repair and the headstone should be made whole again shortly.
Captain Todd Dalton stated, “These Troopers are indicative of the sense of service and dedication that defines our agency.”
