Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Tommy Houston arrested William Elam age 48 of Emma Estates Apartments, London early Monday morning August 8, 2016 at approximately 1:28 AM.
The arrest occurred off Finley Trailer Park Road, 1/2 mile south of London after Deputy Houston investigated a complaint that this subject had allegedly made numerous calls to 911 dispatch reporting false incidents throughout the day.
The last call this subject reported to 911 dispatch that he was an inmate and he was calling to report that a correctional officer was down along the fence line by his trailer, reportedly suffering from an asthma attack. When Deputy Houston arrived at the scene he located this subject bent over with a small flashlight attempting to allegedly track a female inmate that had run off from work release.
The investigation determined that this subject was making a false report to deputies. Deputy Houston determined that this subject was under the influence – he admitted he took pills earlier and was shown to be under the influence of meth.
While Deputy Houston was conducting his investigation, this subject carried on a conversation with an unknown male who was not present.
William Elam was charged with public intoxication – controlled substances; harassing communications; and falsely reporting an incident and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
